Jimmy Farmer has a passion for creating memories and experiences for others in the game of baseball. From working with players to media relations to play-by-play, Jimmy is focused on the fan experience and what brings them to the game. Most recently, Jimmy worked as a student manager for the Ohio University baseball team. In this position, he did whatever was needed to ensure the success of the team, from setting up drills during practice to running video systems during games to operating analytics systems.
During the 2019 summer, Jimmy worked for the Florence RedWolves of the Coastal Plain League as the Director of Media Relations and play-by-play broadcaster. In this role, he ran all social media for the team as well as broadcasted all home games. During this time, he increased awareness of upcoming team events and outings via social media. In addition to broadcasting all home games, Jimmy wrote postgame recaps for all games both home and away.
Before the 2019 summer, Jimmy interned with the RedWolves the two summers prior as the play-by-play broadcaster and public address announcer. Along with these in-game duties, he worked diligently before and after all games to make sure all fans were given the best experience, the stadium was prepared for games and all parts of the player’s uniforms were clean and returned to their lockers.
Jimmy hopes to combine his experiences over the three summers with RedWolves with the experiences he gained working for Ohio baseball with his educational experiences studying journalism and sports management at Ohio University to continue working in the baseball industry.
